Menswear fashion brand JZO, founded by the creative duo of Joseph Ike and Olamide Akindeinde, have unveil their Dry/Hammattan 2016 collection dubbed, ‘Aremo’ (Yoruba for Heir Apparent).
Inspired by the modern day struggle of the African male to adopt a contemporary style while retaining his traditional identity, the Aremo collection features a blend of non-traditional jackets with rebellious play on symmetry, and lapel features (or absence). The pieces are made entirely from hand-woven custom made Aso-Oke fabrics detailed with elaborate Hausa, Fulani, Aiki-Sama embroidery all in JZOs standard colour palate.
The JZO perspective could best be described as a modern minimalist retelling of traditional African themes.
