Over the weekend, we brought you photos from the royal marriage between the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Olori Wuraola, Zynab Otiti Obanor. See photos here and here.
The first part of the ceremony which included paying the bride’s dowry, was held in Benin city and though the Oba was absent (as custom demands), the new Olori’s bride price of N25 was paid.
The bridal procession then moved to the city of Ile-Ife yesterday where the thanksgiving ceremony of the traditional wedding was done at the Royal court of Ife, AafinEnuwa square, Ile-Ife, Osun state.
With a number of dignitaries present including Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, deputy governor of Osun State, Mrs TitiLaoye-Tomori, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, traditional rulers from across the South-west states, the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammed Salidunturu, a governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Senator Ajayi Borofice, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adepele Ojo among others.
The union between the Ooni and his beautiful new bride has been described as a consolidation of the age-long connection between the Yorubas and the people of Benin in Edo state where the bride is from.
