#NDDCProbe: Acting MD, Kemebradikumo Pondei Faints During Public Hearing
On Monday July 20, acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC), Prof Daniel Kenebradikumo Pondei fainted during an onging probe of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) by the House of Representatives Committee over illegal spending and mismanagement of funds.
The NDDC boss collapsed where he was seated after the members of the House Committee on NDDC when he was being asked by lawmakers to explain why the commission under his leadership made huge payments to companies without appropriation.
Offiicals of the commission present at the hearing made efforts to revive him and later moved him out of the Conference Room 231, venue of the investigative hearing of the public hearing.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, however, stayed behind. Earlier, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee onNDDC, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had recused himself from the public hearing, stepping aside for the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, to take over the ongoing probe.
The public hearing has however been adjourned for 30 minutes, Vanguard reports.
