New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019: Carolina Herrera

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019 is in full swing in the one of the fashion capitals of the world.

The Fashion and Style Department is doing Show Reports on some select designers showcasing their latest collection this season.

According to a review by Vogue’s Anders Christain Madsen, excepts from it reads: “If taking over from the illustrious founder of a fashion house as glamorous as Carolina Herrera isn’t always an easy feat, at least Wes Gordon has the spirit of the times on his side. Following waves of minimalism, glamour has been making a loud comeback in recent years, reminding fashion fans of the joys of brands like Herrera.

And that was the appetite 31-year-old Gordon catered to in his debut collection at the New York Historical Society on Monday morning. Having already worked side-by-side with the founder for a year before she retired last season, he said he approached the collection by thinking, “What are the things that make us fabulous as a house? And the number one is Mrs Herrera. When you look back at those late ’70s photos of her, there’s a vibrancy, a vivaciousness; she’s never a wallflower. This woman is the life of the party. Our collection is for a woman, who loves colour; who wants to zip up her dress and dance.”
