Big Brother Africa StarGame Evictions: Maneta Survives, Teclar, Julio and Hilda Booted Out!

After a week of endless speculation, the Housemates were finally put out of their misery tonight.
The Princess of Zamunda – Teclar – was unable to use her &#39royal powers&#39 to save herself from Eviction. Julio and the bubbly Hilda from Tanzania are also on the next plane home, after only a week in the game.

As Downille gathered in the lounge, Maneta and Teclar were the first to be told to leave the Big Brother House. Their fellow Housemates did not seem too gutted about the news and proclaimed “More food for us”. Maneta simply made a dramatic beeline for the Eviction doors, telling Julio not to touch her, as he reached for a hug. The Zimbabwean Housemate obviously had no inkling she was about to upgrade to posh Upville.

When her older sister Teclar was notified of the end of the road, she held back the tears welling in her eyes. After she had walked off the stage, Julio and Hilda were notified of their fate too.

Kate Henshaw Attends ‘The Assasin’s Practice’ Premiere In London
She looks stunning, dazzling and 20 years old all over again! Nollywood veteran actress Kate Henshaw-Nutall in all right can be called an African screen diva; with over 70 films under her belt, tons of awards and international recognition, we can say Henshaw has contributed her own quota to the development of the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

Kate Henshaw

Since her debut in the 1996 action-thriller ‘Silent Night‘, the trained microbiologist has stayed relevant all through the years shuttling between movie sets and theatres for live plays.

Muna Deletes ‘Apology Tweets’ To Modenine
The past week has seen the Hip-hop scene in Nigeria buzzing seriously over, following the release of a Nigezie video which showed revered rapper Segun Babatunde A.K.A Modenine and beauty-queen-turned-rapper Munachi Abii in a verbal confrontation during a rap competition which took place some weeks ago.

Hours after the video hit the internet and turned viral; Muna’s management released a statement which sparked up more controversy by infuriating all those who were following the Muna-Modenine drama. The statement signed by RMG boss Ayo Shonaiya failed to apologise, or defend Muna’s actions but instead cheekily insulted reporters and bloggers and indeed everyone discussing the issue.

The statement only added more salt to injury as Muna and her management received more insults from those following the debate. The rapper on her own part felt pressured apologised to Mode 9, using the platform where it all went viral – Twitter.

‘I want us to be cool like before, and as we were just before the Nokia show’ she wrote to Mode 9. ‘Pls accept my apology. Modey, I know we had a chat, and still face2face when I get back, but 2 put a stop to this madness. I’m sorry boo’, @Muna01 tweeted at Modenine.

But the famous ‘apology tweets’ are now missing from Muna’s Twitter timeline. Modenine did not respond to Muna’s earlier apologies and hasn’t tweeted since the development.

Kaffy will tie the knot with her baby’s father, Joseph come June 2, at Bespoke Centre, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos. Her wedding is taking place exactly six months after she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, Kamal.

The traditional engagement ceremony is scheduled to hold early in the day of the wedding at the same venue.
According to our findings, the wedding will be a strictly-by-invitation affair. But of course; some friends, family and extended family members, colleagues and clients of the entertainment industry are already penned down as guests.

In March 2012, the 35-year-old bachelorette stepped out with an unidentified young man to the weekly Industry Nite at Oriental Hotels; Lekki where Square Records act May D was hosted. Her reps also did not offer any info when we asked who the mystery man was.

A Review: Don Jazzy’s New Album Without D’Banj

Don Jazzy no doubt is a man who keeps his word; so when he announced that he would be releasing a compilation album that will hold new works from his Mavins- Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, Wande Coal and D’Prince titled Solar Plexus.

Solar Plexus ordinarily means that part of the abdomen including the stomach that is particularly vulnerable to the effects of a blow; so maybe Don jazzy is trying to say this album will literally knock the wind out of you – entertainment wise that is.

Mavin records crew

The album compilation holds twelve tracks with Tiwa Savage disturbingly doing only one track out of the twelve while Dr Sid, Wande Coal and D’Prince enjoy three each for themselves. This may be due to the fact that she is a recent sign on to the label and the whole compilation had been put together in a rush with Don Jazzy being under intense pressure to be out quickly with his label.

Solar plexus has I’m a Mavin presumably done by all four but then it is difficult to determine when each male Mavin individually takes on the song as the verses had gone the same way both melody and voice- tone wise. Only Tiwa Savage who thankfully is a female had broken the male monotony with her rich, sensual voice. This is noticeably different and perhaps not up to what the Mo’hits all stars had hit us with in 2007.

However, the track I am a Mavin exudes a new music sense and style quite unlike what Don Jazzy has ever produced before. Anyone with good music ears and love for perfect harmony will enjoy the number but then if you are inpatient and already quivering to get into a dancing feat then you may be moving on to other tracks.

In Solar Plexus, Tiwa Savage has Oma Ga to her credit, Wande Coal drops See me ri, Forever, and Pretty girls, Dr Sid Yolo, CPR and Chocolate while D’Prince finishes with Take Banana, Why you over there and Amarachi. All four Mavins do their songs individually and independently. They do not jump in to help each other at choruses or bridges save for the Producer himself Don Jazzy who comes in occasional yet expectedly to do vocal backup.

In all, the album is tight. But then there may be moments when the up beat tempo maintained in one track drops considerably in the next track. The sound and production quality is on point but still not ahead of what had been in the Mo’hits era. This album no doubt will have hits that will rock clubs and parties for months to come but then one reality stares really hard in the face – D’banj is sorely missed in this compilation.

Tuface Weds Annie Secretly
Tuface Idibia has stunned everyone; entertainment journalists, fans and friends alike as he secretly weds Annie Macaulay whom he engaged on Valentine’s day this year.

Everyone had been waiting anxiously for the date of the wedding to be announced; hoping it will be the mother of all weddings; there had been big plans by many including die hard fans and journalists to be right there at the venue no matter what it takes.

Annie Macaulay, Tuface Idibia and their daughter

But Tuface has beaten everyone to the game.

Reports have it that in a private registry wedding in Lagos attended by only close family members including the parents of the bride and groom Tuface had said ‘I do’ to the love of his life.

It was deafeningly quiet; so hush hushed that most of Annie’s friends were not present including Idibia’s close friends and associates.

However, looking at the chronology of events starting from just days before Tuface proposed to Annie on February 14, till date, the pop singer had enshrouded himself in a blanket of silence; refusing to answer questions that directly probed his plans with Annie.

As at this moment, Tuface or his publicist is yet to make an official statement on this development.

Fans who have heard this are somewhat disappointed. It wasn’t what they had expected.

However, there seem to be cheering news somewhere in the corner with word out from insiders that there still might be another wedding ceremony between these two which should hold all the pomp and grandeur befitting of a celebrity like Tuface later on in the year.

Are you surprised at Tuface’s wedding to Annie?  Why all the secrecy?

Soul Singer Asa In Court Over Lesbianism Accusation Story By News Of The People Magazine

A mild drama ensued on Thursday morning, when bodyguards to 29-year-old Nigerian soul singer, Bukola Elemide a.k.a. Asa, harassed journalists who were at the Lagos State High Court sitting in TBS, for taking photographs of the singer whose N700 million suit against Dockland Communications Services resumed hearing on that fateful day.

The case was however adjourned till May 3rd. Asa’s publicist, Adebola Williams who accompanied her alongside fierce-looking bodyguards to the court, upon noticing that the paparazzi were taking shots at random as the singer was about entering the courtroom drew the attention of Asa’s bouncers, as they immediately went into action, causing a mild drama outside the court. The bouncers insisted that the pictures should be deleted.

Bukola Elemide aka Asa

When the case came up before Justice A.J Coker, the defendant’s counsel was not in court for the cross examination. Asa was dressed in pink gown while her manager, Janet Nwose sat beside her in court.

Her lawyer expressed worry concerning the absence of the defendant’s counsel despite knowing that the claimants do not reside in the country. “The matter is on fast track and the claimants do not reside in Nigeria,” he complained.

The soul singer and her manager, in the suit, want the court to declare that the allegation of lesbianism against them was false, illegal and a violation of their rights. They also want the defendant restrained from further publication of malicious statements against them.

UK Record Label Mercury Records Signs D&#39Banj
Musician Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D&#39Banj, has been signed on by Mercury Records, a label in the United Kingdom.

D&#39Banj, who has been embroiled in a rift with former label mate, Don Jazzy of Mo&#39Hits record, also has an ongoing deal with Kanye West&#39s G.O.O.D Music and reports say West facilitated his new deal with parent company Island/DefJam&#39s UK partners.
With this new deal, the musician will reach a wider audience not just in Africa and in the US, but now in Europe.

Latest From D’banj, Don Jazzy Saga: Wande Coal Withdraws Tweet?
In 2009, when Wande Coal stormed the scene as the newest addition to the Mo’hit’s family, everyone saw the bond between him and the Koko master D’banj grow dramatically. It was therefore understandable when during the uproar that followed the split of Don Jazzy and D’Banj, Wande Coal had kept mute.

He was silent everywhere both on his Twitter and Facebook pages. Until lately, when reports filtered in that the “Ten Ten” crooner had allegedly dropped tweets on social networking site Twitter in reaction to a new development on the Mo’Hits trouble only to withdraw the said tweet less than twenty four hours later.

Wande Coal, Don Jazzy & D&#39banj

According to the gist, Wande had allegedly reacted to a story blowing in the rumour mills that D’banj allegedly asked Don Jazzy in a leaked email to return the Bentley he (D’banj) reportedly bought for Don Jazzy.

Wande was alleged to have tweeted “saying that he bought a car for Don Jazzy is wrong and untrue. Come onnnnnn. Well I don’t think he said that sha till I see a video of this”

As you read this, the said tweet is not on Wande’s timeline on twitter yet those who swear they saw it are sticking to their story.
Wande Coal has however made no comments to claim or deny this tweet and with the silence has come rather ridiculous guesses that probably hackers had been at work again.

This latest development comes as insiders say another label like Mo’Hits may re-emerge should Don Jazzy manage to rebuild a new music empire that would bare his name and seal alone.

As for the alleged tweet, what do you think is the mystery here? Did the tweet disappear after second thoughts from Wande Coal or is this a tweet that never existed? Share your thoughts.

Omotola Jalade Joins Amnesty International Campaign Against Shell Over Niger Delta Oil Spillage
Popular Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has joined Amnesty International campaign calling on the Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company to own up, pay up as well as clean up the Niger Delta region.

A short video released on Wednesday featured the award-winning actress outside Shell’s headquarters in London, calling upon Shell’s Chief Executive, Peter Voser, to take responsibility for the pollution in the oil rich region.

Omotola

According to a statement by Amnesty International released on Wednesday, Omotola said in the video ‘I am from Ondo State, a region of the Niger Delta. I am devastated to see the impact on my beautiful country and our people from the pollution that Shell has caused.

“People’s lives are literally being ruined by this mess, fisherman cannot fish, food cannot be grown or harvested, water is contaminated and people’s health is at risk. Shell makes billions of dollars in profit yearly and needs to act now to clean up their mess.”

Amnesty said Oil pollution from Shell’s pipelines in the Niger Delta has had a devastating human rights and environmental impact, causing misery for the people living there. But Shell has failed to properly prevent or address oil pollution in the Niger Delta. Oil pollution has destroyed the livelihoods of tens of thousands of people who depend upon the environment to make a living and feed their families.

Adding, the organisation said it is working closely with Nigerian civil society and communities in the Niger Delta to stand up for their rights.

The Nigerian Government now bears significant responsibility for the impact of pollution in the Niger Delta, Amnesty stated, adding that the government has failed to enforce existing laws and regulations to prevent pollution and hold the oil industry to account, fostering a culture of impunity in which oil companies are able to operate without concern for the consequences.

Omotola is a long-standing Amnesty International activist. Her support includes having previously headlined a concert on a trip to Sierra Leone with the organisation to highlight the issue of maternal mortality.

Ogidan later promised to take the film to the people asa way of creating awareness as Lagos State government backs the production.

Overwhelmed by the storyline of the movie, wife of Lagos State governor,  Abimbola Fashola charged parents to endveaour to monitor whatever their wards are doing as way of giving  them direction in life.

Most times, when people come to us to tell us of the wrong things our children are doing we find it difficult to face the truth. As mothers and fathers, when we hear things about our children that are negative, we need to sit down and ponder because most times when these children do the wrong thing it comes from those who are inside”.

Nigerian Entertainment Weekly News Roundup

To start the week, we have rounded up news making waves in Nigerian entertainment and Nollywood. Aside from the D’banj & Mo’Hits saga and Naeto C tying the knot with long-time girlfriend Nicole, another news everyone is talking about is the upcoming Africa Movie Academy Awards 2012 (AMAA) set to hold this April. AMAA is a platform that projects the African film industry to Africa and the rest of the world. It is a glamorous celebration of artistry honouring excellence in African Filmmaking and Cinema, so we cannot wait to see all the Nollywood celebrities under one roof.

To our dear readers, start your super Monday with all the hot gists here!

2Face, Asa & Senegalese Female Singer, Vivian Chidid Up To Thrill At The Africa Movie Academy Awards 2012
Ahead of April 27, date for the grand finale of the 2012 edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), holding at the New Expo hall of the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, organisers have unveiled the names of artistes that are billed to thrill the galaxy of movie stars from across Africa and other parts of the world who are expected to grace the awards night.

Tuface
Leading the pack is African Queen crooner, Tuface Idibia, Asa and a Senegalese female singer, Vivian Chidid.

AMAA boss, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe disclosed this, at the world press conference, held Wednesday, in Lagos.   She also named Hollywood star actors like Morris Chestnut, Rockmund Dumbar, Lynn Whitfield and Maya Gilbert as special guests, at this glamorous night of colour, style and celebration of movies from Africa.

According to AMAA boss, there will be delegation from countries such as Gabon, Equatorial-Guinea, Gambia, Kenya, South Africa amongst other countries.
Speaking at the well-attended press briefing, Ms Anyiam-Osigwe said this year’s AMAA promises to be different from what have been witnessed in the last eight years of the awards ceremony.

According to her, the high point of this year’s AMAA is the screening of films from Uganda, Algeria, Tanzania, South Africa and other African countries.
Explaining why the award night was moved to Lagos, AMAA founder said the decision was based on the need to provide space for the teeming movie stars and stakeholders that usually attend the yearly event.

“It has been a long journey but we are glad that we are able to host this year’s edition in Lagos. AMAA has eventually outgrown the former host environment.  We needed the space to accommodate people who have the desire to attend the event. But nonetheless, Bayelsa State still remains one of the major supporters of AMAA.” she explained.

What Is Happening To Majek Fashek?
Returnee reggae legend and guitarist, Majek Fashek may have at the peak of his career been regarded as one of Nigerian music icons who would not only elicit a standing ovation anywhere, but also would be jostled by fans for his autograph.

But this was not the case on Easter Monday, when the Rain Maker was spotted along the highbrow Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. Looking shabby, frail and very unkempt, the passersby wondered out loudly whether this was the same Majek Fashek who waltzed his way into the hearts of music fans in the late 80s and early 90s, with his debut album  “Prisoner of Conscience” containing the hit track ‘Send Down The Rain’ which he released in 1987.

While his disturbing outlook attracted pity from those of his fans that recognised him, very few onlookers who could not believe their eyes murmured as well as discussed in hush tones in respect of the failing state of health of one of Africa’s greatest reggae artistes.

Majek Fashek (before and now)
Majek was more of a shadow of his old self as he walked down the street of Allen, accompanied by a guy suspected to be one of his managers.
With his unkempt dreadlocks and worn out boots, the once handsome and talented reggae icon was reduced to an object of mockery caused by his abuse of substance.

“I wouldn’t believe this is Majek Fashek, he’s looking sickly, shabby and unkempt.” muted one of the passersby. Another passersby added, “look at what he has done to himself, a great singer indeed.”

However, since his return from USA last year, the reggae artiste’s outlook presents a different picture of what his fans and lovers used to know of him.
Recently, it was rumoured that a group of fans were mobilizing to raise funds to facilitate the reggae artiste’s rehabilitation. Under the platform of Majek Fashek Help Drive, the group which is allegedly being coordinated by a staff of AIT wants to check the musician into a rehabilitation centre in the country all in the bid to set his career back on track.

The Rainmaker as he is fondly called has been a shadow of his old self after an alleged long battle with alcohol and drug addictions.  Nigerians must not allow Majek Fashek to die.

Abass Akande Popularly Known As Obesere Narrowly Survives Auto Crash
Abass Akande popularly known as Obesere narrowly survived a frightening car accident involving his Lexus jeep LX470 on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Ijebu Ode in Ogun State on his way to Lagos.

According to reports, the Ibadan born musician who entertained at the Top 1 Hotel on Saturday was on his way back to Lagos at around 7: 30pm, when the accident occurred. His chauffeur identified as Femi lost the control of the jeep and rammed it into a tree, damaging the jeep.

The crashed Lexus Jeep
Reports also have it that the artiste, the driver and two others passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Orisunmade Hospital, Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

While reacting to the ugly accident, Obesere who is still under medical observation debunked insinuations that the driver was drunk.
“Femi doesn’t take alcohol and when we go to shows like that I always give him time to rest. H also doesn’t take part in our music performance. I was on the phone with my eyes on him when the jeep swerved into the bush. It was a terrible occurrence, but I thank God nobody died,” he said.

While friends and well-wishers have continued to commiserate with him over the sad event, Obesere, who recently waxed an album for former Lagos State governor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed, to mark the 60th birthday of the political Amazon, has, however, adopted the nickname of the astute politician, Jagaban following the accident.

In The Name Of Acting & Fame An NIJ Student Ms Enitan Adeshola Okesanya Goes Nude
Could it be that the world is truly coming to an end? The nude picture staring you in the face is that of a 300-level student of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, NIJ, Ogba, Lagos, Ms Enitan Adeshola Okesanya.

She allegedly went nude to break into the silver screen as a way of living out her dreams of becoming a successful actress in future. The nude pictures and stories were circulated online as at Thursday morning.

The aspiring actress was said to have vowed to break into the industry with a bang. “As long as my strength can carry me,” she was quoted as saying.
But the new twist to the whole story is the fact that the 21-year-old Eniola, is claiming the nude pictures are not hers. In her explanation, since the nude pictures were uploaded online, she has received not less than 500 phone calls, asking questions about the stories.

Enitan Adeshola Okesanya

Enitan claimed that she granted an interview to an evening newspaper last Wednesday. But unfortunately, someone mischievously changed the pictures and posted them on Facebook.

The D’banj & Don Jazzy Saga: D’banj Accuses Hackers Of Taking Over His Twitter Handle
Just like a plot in suspense novel with it’s endless twists and turns, the gist following the departure of D’banj from the Mo’hits family doesn’t look to be coming to an end soon.

Venessa Amadi; D’Banj’s spokeswoman has issued a brief statement that accuses hackers of changing the name on the pop star’s Twitter handle causing outrage amongst die hard fans of the singer.

D&#39banj
His tweeter handle had gone from Dapo D’banj Oyebanjo @iamdbanj Good music/Mo hits!!! DKM. Number 1 Entertainer. Worldwide. http://www.mohits records.com to Daniel D’banj Banjo @iamdbanj DB/GoodMusic/IDJ world wide.

D’banj had been accused by fans of further attempting to extradite himself from every known links he may still have with the Mo’hits family hopefully to acclimatise himself more with the American music market.

Vennesa in the statement wrote “Over the past few weeks Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’Banj has experienced a series of vicious hacks on several of his social networking sites including his Facebook page and more recently, his Twitter of which his account name was wrongfully changed.

Unfortunately the hackers managed to carry out a number of hurtful, damaging activities directly aimed to deceive D’Banj’s fans with false information.
With the help of the security teams at both Twitter and Facebook, we have managed to regain full control of the said sites, which are currently being operated personally by D’Banj.

Fans can continue to interact with D’Banj at his official Twitter handle @IamDbanj and his official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DBanj. Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo is known and celebrated worldwide for his originality and distinctive sound and is committed to staying true to that foundation.
D’Banj apologies for any inconvenience caused by the hacking and thanks his beloved fans for their continued support.”

However, many who have seen this brief are taking it with a pinch of salt. After the ‘battle’ by Twitter’s security teams to salvage his page, D’banj’s Twitter handle was not returned to the original version. His new Twitter handle now reads D’banj Kokomaster @iamdbanj DB/GoodMusic/IDJ worldwide

Don Jazzy Takes Dr SID, D’Prince, Wande Coal To SA Plus Did D&#39banj Respond By Unfollowing Don Jazzy On Twitter?

Since the news settled that D’banj and his best friend of many years Don Jazzy had kissed their business and perhaps personal relationships goodbye, there had been palpable fear that the music future of the rest of the Mo’Hits clan was under threat.

The heavy silence from Don Jazzy had not helped matters that even Dr SID in a tweet published some weeks back had not been able to hide his apprehension, acknowledging that their respective careers were in a “sensitive situation”.

But the hitmaking producer Don Jazzy has moved to calm all their fears.

In a recent trip to South Africa, Don Jazzy traveled alongside his ‘boys’ Dr SID, D’Prince and Wande Coal to launch the new Samsung Hi-Fi product which he reportedly helped design.

D&#39banj & Don Jazzy

As expected, D’banj and his younger brother K-switch were not at the launch.

Industry watchers say this is Don Jazzy’s bold proclamation of who and who were now part of his new music family; a family that may have no place for D’ Banj’s younger brother K Switch who many conclude indirectly joined his brother in the walk out.

Dr Sid on his twitter account, posted a link to pictures of the four in a reassuring pose moments after reaching South Africa. This trip is coming amidst strong speculations Don Jazzy is cooking up a brand new record label where he would hold all the cards.

The Over the Moon crooner tweeted (@IamDrSID) “here are a few pictures of the quartet having fun in South Africa…”

Some fans that have seen the tweet momentarily wonder why SID used the tag quartet to describe the four instead of Mo’Hits as it has been done in the past. But then it is a momentary thought because almost immediately they realise that with the exit of D’Banj perhaps the name Mo’Hits couldn’t exist anymore.

It has also been noticed that D’banj responded to by changing his twitter profile, he has removed “Mohits” from it, what is now left is “Good Music and IDJ”.

No Competition Between Wizkid And Myself – Davido

It’s unforgivable if you are a club regular and you don’t know the wonder boy Davido that brought us Damiduro. He is a talented songwriter and singer who is still reeling from his impact with lime light. Yet, many industry watchers insist that his coming at this time is deliberate; possibly strategic, to counter a monopoly currently being enjoyed by the reigning young artist – Wizkid.

Davido according to the look of these comparisons has chased Wizkid into his class of fame, money and perhaps women. Their music race along the same genre. They both have well developed penning skills that leaves them twisting yoruba words beautifully together before sprinkling them most creatively down their song lines.

Davido & Wizkid

Like Wizkid, Davido has gotten his own fair share of controversies especially as it concerns love and women. A case is the ‘bad girl picture gone viral’ which many say had further helped push the young singer into the face of the media.

Yet each time Davido is confronted with this question from entertainment journalists and blogs, his answer is a firm No. In his words “There is no competition between me and Wizkid. I’m actually with him most of the time. We sometimes talk about it, laugh about it; we go on twitter and look at blogs.

I don’t know why people weigh us together. I don’t believe in turn by turn; Why can’ Wizkid have a number one song in Abuja and I have another one in Port Harcourt or somewhere else and everyone carries it together; no competition as such. I see him as a colleague, maybe if I didn’t know him personally; but I do. We are even planning some things together, so cool.”

It’s a reply many have taken with a pinch of salt. Already, there is inside talk that an album is in the cooking for the young celebrity which will be unveiled at a mind blowing event similar to the one held for Wizkid at his superstar album launch last year at the Expo hall of the Eko Hotel and suites in Lagos. There will be series of collaborations which will be featured strongly in the album. One of which should be with Wizkid himself.

Call it a test of might but this is one unconscious rivalry, everyone one in the business of entertainment reporting anxiously waits to see if it eventually unfolds.

She later rounded up her performance for the night with a superlative version of Fela’s song, ‘Zombie.’ Guest judge, Femi Kuti was so impressed that he rated her performance a triple A plus, mentioning that she reminded him of his grandmother and Fela’s mother, Funmilayo.

Next was Stephen Onochie, who entertained the audience with an energetic and choreographed performance of Flavour’s ‘Adanma.’ It was very evident that he brought his dancing shoes with him as he dazzled the audience with acrobatic steps in addition to his husky voice. For the second time that night, he performed another of Fela’s classics ‘Gentleman.’ His performance was given a pass by most of the judges.

To wrap up the first round of performances Joe Blue appeared in top form with his now legendary ‘Joe Pose’ as he teased the audience with the classic ‘Adaure.’ His last performance of the night was an elaborately orchestrated version of Fela’s immensely popular, ‘Palava’ bringing down the house  with his very energetic and innovative performance.

It will be another week of edge-of-the-seat suspense as the Nigerian audience cast their votes for their favourite contestants. The result will be determined on Friday one last person leaves the Nigerian Idol stage forever.

Dickson

“Since I released the movie into the market, my phone has not stopped ringing. Gay compliance have been disturbing me, inviting me to be part of them. In fact, I have suffered a lot my brother.”Iroegbu told HVP on phone.

‘At the time, I was shooting the movie, most of my colleagues frowned at the project because it was rumour then that some of them were involved in the act.

I thought it was time to take a stand, given the fact that I was once called a gay, just to discredit my personality… when the film is finally released into the market, they will be able to reconcile it with the Dickson Iroegbu they have known for several years. The world will also ascertain whether I’m a homosexual or not.’He told HVP.

Nigerians who reacted to the release of the movie accused Dickson of using the flick to satisfy his selfish reasons.

The eclectic video hit the air this week, showing the Koko master surrounded with beautiful women, all making advances at him.

The video has no retouching, as it still carries ace producer, Don Jazzy’s fine beat and of course, the same lyrics.

However, the surprising thing about the video which has sent tongues wagging, is the absence of other Mo’hit crew members on the video.

The video, obviously shot outside the country and featuring non local girls, has just D’banj holding forth his game till almost the ending part when, American producer, Kayne West made a cameo appearance.

The opening of the video has the inscription, “Good presents in association with Mo’hit records, Oliver Twist”, making it obvious that the video was produced by Kayne West’s G.O.O.D music, leaving out Don Jazzy’s signature. The video was however directed by Nigeria’s SesanOgunro.

It would be recalled that the audio of D’banj’s Oliver Twist was dropped sometimes last year after which the duo, D’banj and Don Jazzy hit the big deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D music.

Afterward, the once-upon-a-time good relationship between the Mo’hit big wig went sour last month when both went their separate ways.
