The headquarters of the Nigeria Football federation (NFF) in the Wuse Zone 7 District of Abuja has been gutted by fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but the Federation’s spokesperson, Ademola Olajire, confirmed the incident. Mr. Olajire, who said he was just arriving the scene, said the fire began on the third floor of the building.
The offices of the President, Secretary General and the accounts department might have been affected. Fire service officials arrived the scene and were battling to put out the fire.
The NFF is currently enmeshed in a leadership tussle with Aminu Maigari and Mike Umeh laying claim to the chairmanship of the football body.
The fire was eventually put out. Officials say no casualty was recorded.
The assistant controller of Fire Service, Eyo Ime, told reporters that they are unable to confirm the cause of the fire at the moment. The Fire Service, however, suspects electrical fault.
