The 64th Cannes Film Festival kicked off in style with a star-studded opening ceremony. This year’s event saw stars including Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Diane Kruger,Gwen Stefani, Anna Dello Russo hitting the red carpet all dressed to kill.
This year’s festival also saw Naomi Campbell working the catwalk with Jane Fonda, Karolina Kurkova and Bruce Forsyth for her Fashion For Relief show, which was held in aid of the Japanese tsunami victims.
Nigeria’s own International football player John Utaka made his debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Utaka held an exclusive screening at Cannes for his documentary titled –'The Road Home'. ‘The Road Home is an inspirational and heartwarming film showing Utaka from his humble beginnings in Enugu, Nigeria to playing for the Premiership in England.
The film’s Director Michael Djaba spoke on trailer. The screening was part of Babylon International run by Script House Berlin, Scenario Films London and Ciné Sud Promotion Paris as part of the Cannes Film Festival.
The film will be released across Africa in the last quarter of 2011 and in 2012 across Europe.
Utaka was also invited by supermodel Naomi Campbell to attend her Fashion For Relief fashion show held in aid of the Japanese Tsunami victims where he mingled with fashion heavy weights including Italian designer Roberto Cavalli and Ghanaian designer Oswald Boateng.
Utaka also is venturing into the world of fashion as he will be releasing a line of t-shirts in Nigeria this June.
