The shut down of the popular Jabi Lake Mall where Naira Marley had the drive-in concert that drew a lot of backlash yesterday Saturday, June 13 by authorities of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has prompted mixed reactions from Nigerians.
According to the FCTA authorities, the mall was shut down indefinitely for violating the Presidential Task Force’s ban on public gatherings as part of measures to curb COVID-19 pandemic in Abuja.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the closure of the mall, Leader of the Task Team, Mr Ikharo Attah, said the management of the Mall had consistently violated the FCTA’s guidelines on COVID-19.
Attah lamented that the management of the mall encouraged and granted permit for a concert by Naira Marley in spite of several warnings by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19. According to him, the mall is conducting business activities exceeding the normal hours approved by the authorities.
Attah explained that the seal order was necessitated by the unlawful and embarrassing event at the mall on June 12, 2020.
See the reactions below.
Jabi Lake Mall must havw allowed PlayNetwork to hold this event after seeing papers that show FCTA has given go ahead. Jabi Lake Mall is not the one to be facing consequence here. It is FCTA and PlayNetwork.

Jabi Lake Mall Abuja where the Naira Marley concert was held yesterday has now been closed indefinitely by the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
But we should do more if we are serious.
Punish the organisers.
Punish the person who approved it.
Punish everyone involved.

But you go to Kano from Abuja anytime you wish, you still attended Abba Kyari burial that was over crowded. Hypocrites

Why punish the tenants when you obviously gave permit for the concert to hold? Are you saying no one was aware of the violation during the concert? I'm sure you would have raced there if it was a religious body. Just allow people catch their covid in peace, you dropped the ball

The Managemet of Jabi Lake Mall were paid by the organizers of Naira Marley’s show. They should share the money to all shop owners at the mall to mitigate the effect of closure . In alternative, the shop owners can sue them for an irresponsible act or reduce their rents for 3mths

The FCTA has sealed up the Jabi lake mall where Naira marley’s concert was held. But my question is, someone approved that show to go on,someone must have also approved the flight to Abuja. I think we should start from that “ someone” if we are really serious. This country sef🤦🏻♂️

Court had to work on Sunday to give an Injunction to Lock Jabi Lake mall for 2 weeks.
But for more serious matters, they will turn a blind eye. pic.twitter.com/oNS2QHEmNG

FCTA, sealing up Jabi Lake Mall is not it!
How did Naira Marley & Kim Oprah enter Abuja?
Did PlayNetwork obtain permit for this event? If yes, who signed the permit?
Why & how did such an event with such large gathering slip through your noses, without even an interruption?

This is gross negligence on the part of @OfficialFCTA . There are shops within the Jabi lake mall that sells food and are not I anyway connected to the concert. Find the Organizers of the concert and prosecute them. Leave the shops selling essential items to open.
