New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019 is in full swing in the one of the fashion capitals of the world.
The OnoBello.com Fashion and Style Department is doing Show Reports on some select designers showcasing their latest collection this season.
According to a review by Vogue’s Anders Christian Madsen, excepts from it reads: “One year ago, Tom Ford presented a collection which openly referenced his Gucci years. “I didn’t want to leave Gucci,” he told me back then, lamenting the way things ended between him and the company. “It took a while for the steam to wear off. But Alessandro helped that,” Ford said, effectively rubber-stamping current Gucci designer Alessandro Michele’s vocal references to his own legendary reign at the house. If last September’s collection revisited his Gucci years, this one took up permanent residency. For those of us, who grew up and discovered fashion through Ford’s inimitable coalition between minimalism and sex at Gucci in the late 1990s and early 00s, Wednesday’s show was pure nostalgia. The ruched mini dresses, the nude and dusty palette, transparent long-sleeved tops, second-skin bustiers, and lace ornamented delicately on hems easily brought his sleek lingerie-as-evening wear Gucci glamour back to life. Not to mention the shiny, silvery and slightly lilac men’s suits, which filled the teenage dreams of yours truly circa 1999.”
