As far as knitwear is concerned in Nigeria, Faith Oluwajimi stands a lone player in a field that reeks of so much potential. However, knitwear is not all that puts fast rising creative director in the exclusive class. It is the genuity of his quirky, deconstructed, gender-blurring pieces are really what make him special.
Faith’s artisanal androgynous label, Bloke was born from his intention of exploring masculinity and started in Abeokuta, Ogun state in 2013 but moved to Lagos in 2015 where they are now based.
With each collection, Faith Oluwajimi reaches higher levels of abstraction, taking his art of making clothes and cuts with his knitting techniques and makeshift form of visualizing clothes to more obscure heights.
Far from being a typical neophyte in fashion, having been crafting collections since 2014 and two high profile designer collaborations already under his belt, Oluwajimi emerged as a fashion focus finalist at the 2018 Lagos Fashion Week and later won the maiden edition of the Emerge ALÁRA Awards.
The groundbreaking label has been featured as one of the Vogue Talents on Vogue Italia as No 34 out of 200 emerging brands changing fashion globally. See more of Bloke’s creations below.
