OB Designer Focus: Meet IDMA-NOF, The Designer Crafting Native Nigerian Stories Through Fashion
After working for a few years as a pharmacist, Mfon Ogbonna, head designer of IDMA-NOF, decided to go back to school to study fashion design which led to the launching of the contemporary womenswear brand in 2016.
Studying fashion in America, Paris, and London gave Mfon the practical skills to carry out her fashion dreams. Through the label, Ogbonna tells highly crafted stories of her native Nigeria and of the world through bold, bright fabrics and cuts.
Ogbonna describes the look of her designs as urban and expressive and says the label uses graphics or vertical stripes, offset with leather panels and simple shapes. After a successful beginning in Lagos, IDMA-NOF is looking to expand into America, that is if she has already not, where the brand has won several awards already.
