OB Weddings: Top 10 Weddings of 2017

Hello Style Revolutionists, we are excited to bring you something special and exciting as we officially say goodbye to 2017.

We all love a good fairytale and the year 2017 gave us a lot of those. We got to witness many fairytales and more importantly happily-ever-afters this year. We saw beautiful people coming together to build homes and families together.

We saw friends and family coming together to celebrate the union of their loved ones, we saw the merging and alignment of families from different tribes, religions and, beliefs.

We got to see the beautiful wedding dresses, the amazing tuxedos, the breathtaking venues, the lovely wedding guests who are always out to impress and slay.

2017 gave us #BAAD2017, #SOMYKONOS17 #BecomingMrsJones, #TheManeEvent and more. We loved experiencing all these weddings this year so we decided to come up with a list to celebrate the weddings which stayed with us and with the public in general.

These weddings were classy, beautifully done, tasteful and they definitely gave social media something to talk about. Everything about these weddings was a hit from start to finish and we know you’ll agree.

Without further ado, we bring to you in no particular order, OBWEDDINGS: TOP 10 WEDDINGS OF 2017.

 

1.         #BAAD2017! Banky W & Adesua Etomi

24125197_170764643518957_6915374848139067392_nEvery once in a while, loves gives us a fairytale and that’s what the union of popular Nigerian musician Banky W and actress Adesua Etomi was to a lot of people. The traditional wedding took place in Lagos on the 19th of November 2017 followed closely by the registry wedding on the 20th of November 2017 also in Lagos and finally the white wedding which took place on the 25th of November 2017 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The traditional wedding, which was planned by Trendy Bee Events with decor by Blue Velvet Marquee was indeed a grand display of love and it also showcased the lovely Adesua Etomi in four amazing looks from renowned fashion designer, Toju Foyeh and they all came out looking unique and glamorous while Banky was dressed by bespoke agbada designer Deco with corals from Lush Jewels.

The white wedding which brought the ceremony to a close took place at a beautiful picturesque location in Cape Town, South Africa and World-Renowned fashion designer Mai Atafo had the honour of dressing every member of the bridal party. The groom and his men were all decked out in white and black tuxedos while Adesua glowed in her custom-made white wedding dress and her ladies complimented her with their black bridesmaid’s dresses.

For the reception, the lovely bride had two more breathtaking dresses, the first by popular fashion designer Andrea Iyamah and the second a sparkly little number made by talented designer Tope FNR.

Let’s not forget T.Alamode Beauty, the artist behind Adesua’s radiant face beat on both days. #BAAD2017 was made out of a fairytale and with the wedding documentary that aired this weekend we know that this wedding will be on everyone’s lips for a long time.

2.         #SoMyKonos17! Stephanie Coker & Olumide Aderinokun

TV personality Stephanie Coker tied the knot with her beau Olumide Aderinokun in the beautiful Greek island of Mykonos on the 12th of August, 2017 tagged #SoMykonos17.

It was indeed a beautiful wedding at a wonderful destination and Stephanie wowed us with two custom-made bridal dresses. The first was from Style Temple while the second was from Andrea Iyamah and let’s not forget that Olumide looked yummy in his tuxedo.

The intimate white wedding ceremony was picture perfect with the floral pink and deep green arch which brought to life a rich and luxurious swath of colours, which was also seen in the table arrangement. 

All the beautiful memories were captured by the talented Akintayotimi.

3.         #BecomingMrsJones! Minnie Dlamini & Quinton Jones

Screen-Shot-2017-10-29-at-6.35.25-PMSouth Africa’s sweetheart Minnie Dlamini got married to the love of her life Quinton Jones on the 16th of September, 2017. The wedding which took place in Cape Town, South Africa was aired on MNET (DSTV 103) on the 13th of October, 2017 as the first ever wedding documentary in South Africa with the title Becoming Mrs. Jones.

Minnie had her makeup done by renowned Nigerian makeup artist, Bimpe Onakoya and her wedding dress was custom-made by South Africa’s very own Gert-Johan Coetzee using Chantilly lace and tulle, with a four-meter-long train and floor-sweeping hem encrusted with thousands of Swarovski crystals.

Minnie definitely looked stunning and Quinton was beaming like he was the luckiest man in the world.

4.         #TheManeEvent! Gucci Mane & Keyshia Kaoir

Gucci Mane and Keyshia Ka’oir said ‘I do’ at the Four Seasons in Miami on the 17th of October 2017 in front of their family and friends in a lavish and stunning star-studded ceremony.

Keyshia looked radiant in a curve-hugging, white beaded gown, with a jeweled headpiece while Gucci Mane was all decked out in a white tux with silver sparkly loafers. The couple definitely made good on their promise of a wedding filled with “diamonds and crystals” as the spent a whopping $1.7 million on the ceremony.

This couple is one that knows how to do things in a grand and lavish way, for the rehearsal dinner, the duo turned up in matching bright red outfits, with Ka’oir in a ballgown with an embellished bodice and the groom in a red suit with layers of diamond necklaces. And during the night, the rapper gave his bride a brand new car. “His and Hers Guwop bought his wife a Wraith!” he wrote on Instagram.

The celebrity guests in attendance included Sean “Diddy” CombsReal Housewives of Atlanta star, Kim Zolciak-BiermannKarrueche TranLil Yachty2 ChainzRick RossBig Sean. and his girlfriend, Jhene Aiko.

This was definitely a wedding for the ages and a well-deserved one for the bride whose been riding for her man since 2010.

5.         #MAIMUST17! Mustafa Masango & Mairama Indimi

We love the beautiful culture and tradition displayed at northern weddings and we especially loved this wedding because it embodied everything that is beautiful and special in love and it allowed us to witness the joy and happiness of two souls coming together.

The four-part wedding celebration of Mairama Indimi & Mustafa Masango took place in Borno, Maiduguri with photographer Big H on the scene to record it all.

The groom Mustafa who is from Zimbabwe looked great in all his northern Nigerian outfits, while his bride Mairama was radiant in every outfit.

The beautiful bride was glowing with her face beat by makeup artist, Bookie Lavida and her dresses from renowned Nigerian designers, Deola Sagoe and Toju Foyeh while all the outfits worn by the groom were designed by luxury traditional menswear line The Rouge Man.

6.         #WalkerDownTheAisle! Tommicus Walker & Letoya Luckett

Singer LeToya Luckett and her fiancé, Dallas-based entrepreneur Tommicus Walker, tied the knot on the 10th of December 2017 in a lavish star-studded ceremony in Austin, Texas.The intimate wedding was held at Villa Antonia, a sprawling mansion in the canyons of the Texas Hill Country.

Luckett wore a custom Vera Wang gown and Christian Louboutin sandals down the aisle, while her dapper groom donned a Tom Ford jacket and pants by Ermenegildo Zegna.

 The couple’s celebrity guest list included Ludacris, Michelle Williams, and Tank, who sang “At Last” as Luckett walked down the aisle to meet her groom.

Luckett and Walker went public with their relationship in August after he surprised her with a grand proposal on his birthday.

The wedding ceremony really was a classy and glamorous affair.

7.         #TheEtimEffiongs! Toyosi Philips & Etim Effiong

Media personality Toyosi Phillips and actor/producer Daniel Etim Effiong became one last year with a beautiful ceremony.

The wedding festivities started with the introduction, which took place soon after the proposal. After that, it was time for the traditional engagement which took place in October 2017 and finally the white wedding which took place on the 4th of November 2017 at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina followed by the reception and after-party at The Eventistry.

The beautiful moments were captured by Kola Oshalusi of Insignia and the wonder-working Iamdodos brought some magic to the bride’s look.

The wedding was a beautiful fusion of the bride’s Yoruba customs and traditions as well as the Efik customs and traditions of the groom.

8.         #MiManuel2017! Emmanuel Oyeleke & Nanfe Jemimah Bonitas

Nigerian model Jemimah Nanfe Bonitas and photographer Emmanuel Oyeleke’s journey to forever is the perfect plot to a fairytale story.

Their traditional wedding was a rich celebration of culture and tradition which took place in Jemimah’s hometown in Langtang South, Jos, Plateau on the 22nd of October, 2017.

The white wedding which took place on the 2nd of December 2017 was a breath of fresh air at the Texas Connection Ferries, Osborne Foreshore in Lagos. It was a beautiful ceremony with the reception anchored by Tosin Odunfa and lovely music from Isaac Geralds and Waje.

The bride’s traditional wedding dress was made by Nigerian designer, Tubo, and her makeup was done by the talented leylarhcadne of LCadne Atelier while the groom was outfitted by Hakeem Adeyinka Balogun (@kinghakbal).

The white wedding saw the talented leylarhcadne of LCadne Atelier reprising her role as the make-up artist but this time the bride’s wedding dress was made by Ejiro Amos Tafiri with her two reception dresses made by Ejiro Amos Tafiri and Jane Michael Ekanem while the groom was outfitted by Mai Atafo, Kimono KollectionandT.I. Nathan.

9.         #TheCasuals! Yomi Makun & Grace Amarachukwu Onuoha

Yomi Casual and his beautiful wife Grace Amarachukwu Onuoha tied the knot on the 14th of October, 2017 with a glamorous outdoor ceremony which transitioned into a colourful reception at the Glitz Event Centre, Lekki. The couple had their close family and friends in attendance.

The talented Ayo Alasi of Alasi Studios made sure all the special moments were captured while the one and only Anita Brows ensured that the bride was camera fabulous all through the ceremony.

10.   #TheSolexperience17! Adesola Adepoju & Olumide Eje

This was one controversial wedding that had tongues wagging long after it had passed. The nuptials of House of Jahdara boss, Adesola Adepoju and her beau Olumide Eje popularly known as Don Eje took place on the 7th of October 2017 following the traditional wedding which had taken place on the 1st of October 2017.

The wedding which was such a lavish display of luxury and wealth caused a lot of stir on the internet for many reasons. The first of which was the range rovers which were used to transport members of the bridal party. Each bridesmaid and groomsman had a Range Rover to themselves on the big day.

Then there were the strippers at the wedding reception, you may have heard of this, and the gifting of bundles of cash as wedding souvenirs. Nigerians had a lot to say about this and social media was buzzing for days about the unconventional happenings at this wedding.

However, #TheSolexperience17 was a lovely ceremony which took place at Grace Garden Event Place, was planned by 2706 Events and featured performances from Timi Dakolo and Davido.

The bride’s traditional outfit was designed by world-renowned Nigerian fashion designer Deola Sagoe while her make up was done by Banke Meshida-Lawal of BMPRO while for her white wedding she went with a custom-made dress from Leo Almodal with hair by Tasala HQ and makeup by Bebe Omagbemi popularly known as Bibiyonce.
