Oba Of Lagos’ Staff Of Office Stolen As Angry Mob Vandalize Palace
On Wednesday October 21, palace of the Oba of Lagos situated at Lagos Island, King Rilwan Akiolu was almost torched.
According to multiple online reports, the palace was attacked by an angry crowd suspected to be hoodlums despite the presence of soldiers.
A resident who spoke to The Cable said, they attempted to burn down the palace but the soldiers succeeded in pacifying them. He said when the situation was getting out of hand, Akiolu was rescued by the soldiers who later allowed the suspects to move into the palace.
Policemen who later arrived at the scene attempted to engage the suspects but the soldiers were said to have sued for calm. A video footage posted online showed a young man running around with the monarch’s traditional staff of office as a crowd trailed him.
There is no news about the where about of the king himself.
