Hello Style Revolutionists! We are back with another edition of Designer Focus (#OBDesignerFocus).
The fashion game in Nigeria has really come a long way. Fashion designers in Nigeria continue to push boundaries and release spectacular collections for public consumption each year. From the mainstream traditional clothing to western like wears, the Nigerian fashion industry is now one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
On our last edition of Designer Focuswe put the spotlight on talented Nigerian Designer, Rukkayah Suleiman.
Today on Designer Focus, we shine the spotlight on Sylvia Enekwe-Ojei and Olivia Enekwe-Okoji, the talented twin sisters behind Gozel Green, a budding womenswear brand.
Sylvia and Olivia were born to artistic parents in Enugu, the sisters grew up watching their mother, a designer, create beautiful pieces and experiencing their writer father bring stories to life through his art leading them to develop their passion for fashion and creativity. Their parents constantly inspire them to follow in their creative footsteps.
They graduated in Stage Arts and Economics at the Igbinedion University Okada, in Nigeria before starting their brand, Gozel Green in 2012. The brand is known for its strong silhouettes, vibrant hues, mix of cosmopolitan spirit and African pop culture which result in an alternative and eclectic style, for a modern fashion storytelling.
The ladies have been known to describe their brand as an artistic, timeless and original brand with alternative style that’s vibrant and outwardly androgynous. They also revealed that every time they create a garment, they always have certain features in mind i.e. eccentric cuts, destructured shapes and eye-catching hues and textures.
According to Sylvia and Olivia, the Gozel Green woman is effortlessly stylish. She is someone who can walk into the room and wow people. She’s colorful, quirky, confident, a trend-setter, youthful, vibrant, fearless, unique, not afraid to push boundaries and stand out in a crowd.
