Fashion designers in Africa use the beautiful nature which surrounds them to push boundaries and release spectacular collections for public consumption each year. Every African designer contributes to the fashion industry by pushing the envelope and opening up a market for African fashion and creations internationally.
On our last edition of Designer Focus we put the spotlight on talented Nigerian Designer Ugo Monye.
Today on Designer Focus, we shine the spotlight on Titi Shotile-Belo the creative behind the high-end fashion brand Titi Belo.

Titilayo Halimotushadiat Shotile-Belo Is the young creative at the helm of affairs at Nigerian fashion label Titi Belo. Self-driven and contemporary, the graduate of architecture and LFDW 2014 scholarship recipient’s unique creativity has made her brand one to watch in 2018.

By her first year at the University of Lagos, Titi knew she wanted to make fashion her profession and sought to attend fashion school in the United Kingdom but her parents were unable to sponsor her at the time so she chose to study architecture instead at the University of Lagos. After graduating from the university, she got the opportunity to work as an intern in a fashion house in Lagos during her NYSC service year and that pushed her to get serious with the business of fashion, shortly after this she released her first collection Envy.

Titi previously revealed that as a designer her biggest challenge is production and she believes that things would be a lot easier for herself and all other fashion designers if the conditions for production were stable.

Titi Belo has been on the scene for five years and has showcased at Lagos Fashion and Design Week every year since 2014. The brand is known for its bold unconventional pieces created for a winning woman, boss chick or go-getter that just so happens to be edgy, eccentric and sexy. According to Titi, her parents gave her the motivation and inspiration she needed to go after her dreams and to be hardworking as well as independent.

Celebrities and influencers such as Stephanie Coker, Nkem Marchie, Ono Bello, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, Vimbai Mutihinri, Seyi Shay, Linda Ejiofor, Jemima Osunde and a host of others have all been out and about in Titi Belo pieces.

This is definitely one brand that’s pushing the envelope when it comes to in Nigeria and Africa as a whole and we are excited to see what Titi Belo is preparing to give the fashion world this year.
