#OgunUnrest: Residents In Despair As Robbers Attack Communities On Lockdown
Severa lOgun state communities and provinces are currently faced with fear following the rising cases of robbery attacks amid the Coronavirus lockdown.
According to affected residents who took to social media to clamor with an #OgunUnrest campaign, the neighborhoods affected range from Ayede, Ilepa, Ijoko, Ifo, Ibogun, Itori, Gudugba and Ayepe to Agbado in Ifo Local Government Areas and Ewekoro of Ogun State.
It was learned that residents of the affected communities formed vigilante groups to contain rampant thieves. The attacks, according to sources, came as a result of the lockout in both states to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
Accoridng to Blogtify, residents in Ibogun said the siege by thieves led to the deportation of people from the town. Meanwhile in a statement issued on Friday, Ogun State police spokesman Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi assured residents of adequate police protection. He urged people to stay calm.
Police Commissioner CP Kenneth Ebrimson has therefore appealed to members of the public not to become unnecessarily anxious as the order will continue to do all it can to ensure that the good people of Ogun state enjoy adequate protection during and after the raging pandemic. He also instructed them to reach out to him through the direct control room number : 08081770416 whenever they are in distress.
Majority of the robbers are those boys that carry luggages at the Park and their anger is that the government asked them to stay at home without giving them food or money.
The Robbery Won’t stop @dabiodunMFR until Armed Forces are deployed to those Areas!!! 🚨

I just received series of armed robbery reports in several parts of Ogun state. At a time like this, security of lives & properties should be the least of the problem.
I heard some arrests were made yesterday but @PoliceNG need to beef up security. @dabiodunMFR

Couldn't sleep because of the extreme vigilante going on around my street, came online only to see it's trending and everywhere. Is this what this country has turned to? #OgunUnrest
