In her speech, she expressed her shock that the senate will even consider such a bill in one of the most prominent nations in Africa where such an act could mar the future of the girl child. She used her achievements as an example of the kind of potentials that can be ruined with the effect of such early marriages.

Referring to Hollywood and the parental guidance law as it affects the bill, Omotola said: “Should we now remove the parental caution on movies that say ‘Not for persons below 18.’?

“This is a call for justice and equity for children especially the Nigerian Girl child, who has the right to quality education, a childhood and the decision of whom and when to marry.

My Name is Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and I say No to phedophilia and No to the senate Bill endorsing Child marriage in Nigeria.” She concluded.

Also, Actress Stella Damasus, has put out a video where she went ‘all kinds of bizarre’ on the senate. She said in a country where we have numerous crisis such as terrorism, economic instability, political crisis and more, the senate has sat down to waste tax payers money and discuss ways to enable “shameless randy old men” marry underage girls legally.
