On Sunday, November 10th, DJ Cuppy held its inaugural Gold Gala at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja and it was nothing short of a mega donation galore.
The night which was towards raising funds with DJ Cuppy’s “Cuppy Foundation” for Save The Children Initiative to support its intervention in the north-east was attended by her lovely father, Femi Otedola who donated 5 billion Naira and closest Billionaire friend, Aliko Dangote who also donated 100 million naira as his own financial contribution for the cause.
Present at the event was special guest of honour Vice President Yemi Osibajo and high profile personalities: former senate president Bukola Saraki, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomole, Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun state governor Dapo Abiodun, Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Paulen Tallen and a bevvy of others.
Others who were also present are her sisters, Tolani and Temi Otedola, chief executive of Save the Children UK Kevin Watkins; a trustee of the foundation Diana Melrose; heads of government agencies and parastatals; members of the national assembly as well as those of the Federal Executive Council.
According to Punch Newspapers, Miss Otedola revealed that she started the foundation as a way of giving back to the less fortunate. While Osinbajo told the guests that the event must refocus their minds on caring for the poor and malnourished especially in Nigeria.
The gala opened with a beautiful performance from DJ Cuppy herself and later eased into various segments such as an auction packed with Anthony Joshua’s boxing glove and other unique items and a private dinner with special performances.
