President Buhari Has Demonstrated Commitment To Strengthen Amnesty Programme – Boroh

The Presidential Amnesty Office in Abuja has commenced the payment of outstanding stipends to ex-agitators in the Niger Delta region and beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

This followed the approval by President Muhammadu Buhari for the commencement of payment of the stipends and allowances to the beneficiaries.

Retired Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh, Special Adviser on Niger Delta to the president, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that “Mr. President has by his approval demonstrated his commitment to strengthen amnesty programme.”

In a statement by the Head of Media and Communication at the amnesty office, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has commenced the payment with May outstanding stipend of N65, 000 ($300) per beneficiary.

The statement said that the outstanding stipends would be paid in batches.
