Hundreds of Osun residents on Friday broke into a cocoa industry warehouse located in the Ede, Ido-Osun and Ofatedo areas of the state, ransacking and looting varieties of food items meant to serve them as COVID-19 palliatives.

In videos being circulated by eye-witnesses on social media, many thronged the area around 11:40 AM and could seen running away with packs of noodles, rice, sugar, garri, and other food supplies.

Some of the youths also came with motorcycles, buses, and other means of transportation to convey the items looted from the storehouse. The food items were reportedly donated to the State government by a private-led sector organization known as the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID).

Recall that a similar incident occurred in Lagos with residents in Maza Maza community storming a palliative-filled warehouse. The chaos reportedly left four dead, according to Punch.
