The world premiere of Lena Waithe’s highly-anticipated Queen & Slim kicked off the 2019 AFI Fest opening night gala on Thursday, November 14 with almost every famous black celebrity in attendance.
Held at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California, the red carpet saw our favourite Hollywood stars such as Rihanna, Zendaya, Tracee Ellis Ross, Snoop Dogg, Kelly Rowland, Mahershala Ali Janelle Monae, Natalie Portman, Daniel Kaluuya, Jodie Turner-Smith, director Melina Matsoukas and many more step out in style.
The movie which has been already dubbed as “the Black Bonnie & Clyde” by Essence stars Daniel Kaluuya and newbie actress Jodie Smith-Turner, who play a couple forced to go on the run after a fatal altercation with a police officer on their first date.
Queen & Slim will be out in theaters on November 27.
