Oyigbo Fulani Herdsmen Attack OnoBello

The presence of military personnel and the policemen is being felt in the Oyigbo Local Government area OF Rivers state after residents reported fresh mob attacks in the community.

The chaos comes after the State Police Command accused members of the Indigenous People of Biafra for killing two of its operatives and burning of two police stations in the area on Wednesday, Punch reports.

In videos shared by residents on social media, gunshots rent the area from Thursday night till Friday morning as soldiers repel the hoodlums but there were still flashes of violence in Oyigbo which reportedly led to deaths.

Governor Nyesom Wike had placed a 24-hour curfew on the local government but residents said they could not sleep because of the shootings.

Oyigbo LGA Chairman, Gerald Aforji, while reacting to the incident on Friday morning in an interview with Punch, said soldiers had intervened to restore calm in the area.
