Ituen Basi And Alter Ego Featured In WWD Magazine

Ituen Basi and Alter Ego, two prominent Nigerian brands, were featured in Womens’ Wear Daily at the 11th edition of the four-day women’s clothing and accessories trade show. Both fashion brands were at the Pitti Imagine trade show in Florence in January.

Taking inspiration from traditional Nigerian fabrics and decors, Ituen Basi — who last October was nominated “Designer of the Year” at the Africa Fashion Awards promoted by the 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa — designed a practical, contemporary collection that included a silk and stretch cotton short-sleeve dress embellished with a print of multicolor African beads.

The Alter Ego collection by Nwakaego Maduekwe of the Alter Ego label was strong in prints and consisted of feminine frocks, including a draped floor-length dress in silk.

Ghana-Born, London-Based Shoe Designer Richard Kwame Braqo Set To Unveil A New Collection As London Fashion Week Begins
The 25 year old Parsons graduate is to have a film screening that represents the inception of the Richard Braqo brand with a shoe collection that is inspired by celestial DNA using his birthstone, the pearl, as one of his signatures and the duality of a Gemini in collating subtly masculine details on feminine stilettos and booties.

The London Fashion Show is to run from Friday, 15 February to Tuesday, 19 February, 2013.

This will take place on Tuesday, the 19th of February, 2013. With a background in womenswear, Braqo approaches his shoes like he would a garment, often wrapping materials over unexpected metal accessories. According to Braqo, the geometry of a woman’s legs is also a point of fascination for him.

For his collection at the London Fashion Week, Richard Braqo is promising crocodile accents and diamanté details.

Supermodels Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha Scout For Models In “The Face”
A new competition show, called ‘The Face’, to find the newest face of ULTA Beauty is bringing supermodels Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha together as they scout for models all around the world.

&#39The Face&#39 Cast Shot

Late last year in an interview in the October edition of TW magazine, Elohor Aisien of Beth Modelling Management had revealed that her agency would be working with Naomi Campbell as they comb the continent and coach models through the competition. So we are looking forward to seeing form Nigerian and African models in the show.

The show will star world renowned photographer and personality Nigel Barker, and will feature appearances by editors of W Magazine along with celebrities such as New York Knicks basketball star, Amare Stoudemire and talk show host Wendy Williams.

The new models stand to gain a ton of experience and modeling skills as they compete to be the new face of ULTA Beauty in an array of real-life challenges depicting the highly sought-after career of a successful supermodel and a cutthroat world of fashion.

In the end, only one will win the ultimate grand prize of becoming a spokesperson and brand ambassador for the ULTA Beauty Fall and Holiday 2013 national ad campaigns. From photo shoots and runway shows to commercials for national brands, the top 12 young women selected for Team Naomi, Team Karolina and Team Coco battle it out each week in two different challenges: a Test Shoot and Campaign that will assess their fundamental skills and versatility as a model.

South African Designer, David Tlale, Showcases Autumn/Winter Collection At The New York Fashion Week
Being a relatively new designer, David Tlale is still at the point in his career where he can manage to get significantly better with each consecutive collection. His A/W 2013 collection, presented at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, was no exception.

It was quite a sight to behold, with models wearing masterfully tailored, highly architectural designs in heavy eye make-up and slick hairstyles, while loud, dramatic world music was pumped through the sound system. The colour palette mainly consisted of a deep red and shiny metallic, earth tones and neutrals.

Tlale’s collection paints a picture of exquisite glamour and he manages to portray refined elegance with his colours and gowns.
