The 2018 African Fashion International (AFI) Joburg Fashion Week took place in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg from 4-7 October 2018. In the theme #AfroAsia, AFI Joburg Fashion Week 2018 showcased the best of African fashion with a sprinkle of Asian flavour.
The Fashion and Style Department is doing Show Reports on some select designers showcasing their latest collection this season.
According to a review by Oluthando Keteyi: “Ahead of Joburg Fashion Week, SA Breaking News spoke to Orapeleng to find out more about what he will be bringing to the runway.
“For Joburg Fashion Week this season we will be presenting a beautiful collection inspired music. The relationship between fashion and music is one of abundant and mutual creativity. The visual presentation will present an incredible 20 piece collection,” the designer tells SABN.
This is a collection that will offer Orapeleng’s audience ” a beautiful collection” that he wants “each and every person attending the show to find it easy to relate and resonate with the pieces from the collection.”
Afro Asia is the theme for this year’s AFI Joburg Fashion Week which takes place from October 4 to 6, 2018 at Melrose Arch.
“Afro Asia is a hive for diverse international fashion fused with African elements bringing a new kind of narrative that speaks an African Global Language,” says the designer of the theme.
“For more than a decade AFI has facilitated exposure for African design talents on world-class platforms, assisting them to attract and conquer local markets and receive international exposure by focusing on the business of fashion,” AFI founder and CEO Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe explains.
Orapeleng seems to agree with Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe as he says “AFI always uplifts careers of designers. They assist you in building your brand and capture the true essence of what you and your brand are about.”
