Our Social Media Week Lagos (SMW Lagos) coverage continues… Day 3 had the theme “Gender Equality in the Digital Age”, and focused on the power of ICTs and how they can help to deliver improved healthcare, quality education for all, financial inclusion, more accountable government, and much more. The sessions were targeted at closing the gender gap in internet access, digital skill and online rights, and what national stakeholders can do to address the challenges and gaps for Nigeria’s women. In attendance were women’s rights groups, civil societies working with women and girls, policy advocates, media and stakeholders.
Speakers included Halima Dangote, Executive Director, Dangote Group who addressed the “Women in Tech Startup Alley” session, Chioma Chuka– Social Media Consultant, Chinelo Anohu-Amazu– CEO of National Pension Commission, Tara Fela-Durotoye– CEO House of Tara, Aisha Augie-Kuta– Filmmaker who spoke at the “Making Social Media Work for Women” session. Other speakers were Uzoma Dozie– Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Bank Plc, Seyi Law– Comedian, Osagie Alonge– Entertainment Writer/Critic, who all spoke on “The Future of Live Music” hosted by BeatFM.
In the “Afrobeats to the World” session, Entertainer DBanj, Founder Chocolate City Entertainment Audu Maikori, Founder & Chairman at Dragon Africa Obi Asika and many others spoke.
SMW Lagos ends today March 3rd, 2017 and is holding at the Landmark Convention Centre in Oniru, Lagos.
