The Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme on Friday, announced his retirement from football after 12-month battle with acute Leukaemia.
He first announced his retirement to his Wolverhampton Wanderers teammates, before a training session at Compton on Tuesday morning.
The former footballer made the decision, after consulting with medical experts, following his battle with acute leukaemia.
After being diagnosed with acute leukaemia in 2017, Ikeme has battled cancer for almost a year with support from the football world.
In June, the shot-stopper gave a positive health update that he was in complete remission, and now, he is set to take hang his gloves.
The goalkeeper has 10 caps for Nigeria and made 274 career appearances in all competitions, with over 200 of them coming for Wolves.
