The Obamas Are Reportedly Going To Provide Shows For Netflix

Barack and Michelle Obama are currently in “advanced negotiations” with Netflix to produce a number of high-profile shows on the global streaming service, the New York Times is reporting—some of which they’d be in.

Barack, according to people familiar with the Netflix discussions, does not plan on using his Netflix shows to respond to President Trump or the conservatives, or be an alternative to conservative media outlets like Fox News. Instead, the former first couple aims to highlight inspirational stories. The exact number and type of shows that the Obamas will provide haven’t been decided yet.

The NYT cites two show ideas being considered: one where Barack moderates conversations “on topics that dominated his presidency—health care, voting rights, immigration, foreign policy, climate change—and that have continued to divide a polarized American electorate,” another with Michelle on nutrition and the causes she promoted as first lady. A Netflix spokesperson declined to comment on any discussions with the Obamas to the outlet.
