“The rope braid is the perfect update for Autumn/Winter 2014. Its intricate detail works brilliantly with a matte dishevelled texture and is easy to re-create a similar look yourself,” Ben Moth, the artist director at London salon Easton Regal, told My Daily.

Elizabeth Olsen, Nicole Richie and Canadian actress Nina Dobrev are all fans of this style and whether it’s worn loosely or in a tight braid, it’s a great ponytail alternative on long hair.

Want to try the look? Follow Ben’s step-by-step tips below:

1. Start by spraying hair with dry shampoo and a texturizing sea-salt spray and blast dry through to create a bed-head texture – this finish will also help the braid to stay in place.

2. Pull your hair into a low ponytail and then secure this with an elastic band.

3. Section the ponytail in to two and twist the left section in a clockwise direction and the right section in an anti-clockwise direction.

4. Then twist the two sections together from length to ends and secure with another elastic band. Gently manipulate the braid with your fingertips to loosen the twist for an ethereal, effortless finish.

And there you have it! so whether you have braids or a weave on, you can conciniently style your hair just the way you love it – and it’s easy; just throw on the look and you’re good to go!

Have a lovely weekend, people!
