The Nigerian tech industry was left shocked few days ago after tech communications strategist, Kelechi Udoagwu, shared the story of a sexual assault she experienced at the hands of Kendall Ananyi, the CEO and Founder of Tizeti Network Limited.
Kelechi who seemed to be emboldened by the sordid stories of other rape and sexual harassment victims that continue to flood social media platforms, revealed that the assault happened while she was undergoing a mentorship programme at MEST Africa.
According to her, the Tizeti CEO approached her and thrust his penis into her hand. Kelechi said that Kendall was designated as her mentor at the event but sought more from her than being her guide.
He wasn’t a staff of MEST. He visited as a Guest Speaker. Our friendship had been purely platonic and professional till that afternoon.
I could barely assimilate and react that this was really happening cos I had put the guy on a pedestal and know about his wife.

She further added that when she reached out to other colleagues in the industry and shared her experience, they gave tepid responses with no actionable support which further led to silence.
While Mr Kendall Ananyi is yet to address the claims, however Tizeti has taken to Twitter to declare a zero tolerance on sexual harassment while announcing that an investigation has been commissioned.

We have zero tolerance for sexual harassment and assault at MEST and within the MEST community. We will stand behind you and help escalate action if you wish. We have privately DM’d you as well.
