Our expectations from the Nigerian music this year are really high and the artistes have not disappointed at all. Many self acclaimed music prophets have predicted their expectations from some artistes who made quite an impression on fans and critics in 2012 but as it stands at the moment, it’s those ones who were not considered that seems to be making themselves relevant… can it be that the tide is about to change or the hit makers are having a recess to storm the industry sometime later?
Whatever the case is, Nigerians are not really perturbed about who the tide favors as long as the song fulfill its purpose – that is – make them feel better about the general phenomenon. Hip-Hop producer Laylow returns with a new single off his forth-coming Justice League Type Music (Fellas & Females Vol 1.) album scheduled to drop much later in the year. On “Soul Survivor”, LayLow features Erigga , Buckwylla, Liu T and Base 1; a fine blend of artistes with totally different styles which gives this song a really nice edge.

Charly Idibia – Rock You Tonight
This is not the first Idibia to pursue music since the emergence of the legendary 2Face. Charles Oche Idibia a.k.a Charly lived all his early life in the capital city of Abuja, itching for music and trying to convince his parents to allow him pursue his dream. Today, barely some years after he finished his tertiary education, Charly decided to focus on his first love music writing songs under the supervision of 2face Idibia, who gave him an opportunity to even write one of his songs in the recent album.
Since the release of his debut solo effort, it has rekindled fading patronage of music loving ladies for local Nigerian music. “Rock U Tonight” eulogies the strength and beauty of being in love.

Rymzo – Scatter The Party
Whew! It’s been a while we heard anything from him. Guitar Maestro and reggae/rock producer and artiste Rymzo has been around for a while and he has been able to strike his mark in the Nigeria music industry both as a musician and producer.
Rymzo used his reggae/dancehall talent to transform afrobeat into something exceptional on his first single in the year 2013 titled “Scatter the Party” presented by Dub Plate Entertainment.

Erigga Featuring Shuun-Bebe – Coupe-Decale
The best thing about Erigga is his crystal clear depiction of the street. Erigga also referred to as paper boy opt for a club banger this time titled “Coupe Decale” and he features Shuun Bebe on this one. It is fresh from Erigga after doing a great job on Laylow’s “Soul Survivor” tune together with Base 1, Buckwylla and Liu T, It’s a good beginning for Erigga as 2012 was filled with shower of awards and nominations.

Terry Tha Rapman, OverDose, Pheroshuz Featuring Five – Clique
Rappers had been spending so much time in the studio for several months now, these three rappers intend to put out a fresh release; Terry tha Rapman, OverDose and Pherowshuz collectively are currently on a big project to produce a compilation album with a code name “#BANS [Boyz Are not Smiling]“. They have decided to drop “Clique” as a prelude to the first single off the compilation.

Code Z – Take Two
Code Z is a four man group that blends different genre together as it is becoming of the Nigerian band in the likes of DRB Lasgidi and L.O.S. after months of rebranding; they have decided to introduce themsleves to the world with the new single titled Take Two.
Take Two, as the name implies, is about the continuation of their musical journey, a fusion of rap & nigerian pop. It was produced by Upcoming producer Yinoluu. Listen up & let us know what you think.
