Nicki Minaj‘s “Queen” and Travis Scotts‘s “Astroworld” were expected to be in a close race for Number One album, but Scott’s album beat Minaj’s by 20,000 album-equivalent units. Minaj took to twitter to air her grievances where she accused him of buddling, using his makeup mogul Girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, and his daughter as bait. She also announced that Spotify, a popular music application punished her.
“I put my blood sweat and tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have [his girlfriend] Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & [her daughter] Stormi,” Minaj wrote. “I’m actually laughing. #Queen broke the record of being number 1 in 86 countries.”
After criticizing Scott’s campaign, Minaj turned her attention to Spotify, alleging that the streaming service punished her for debuting her album on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio where it was played 10 times before it arrived on Spotify at Noon.
Spotify has however issued a statement whicich read,
“Spotify supported Nicki Minaj with a Times Square billboard, a host of the largest playlists, New Music Friday and the new music release shelf,” a representative for the streaming service said. “Her song ‘Bed’ actually saw an increase based on the promotions put behind the campaign. The company continues to be big fans of Nicki.”
