Trend Huntress: 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa

With over 20 shows in four days, the 2012 ‘Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa’ featured 35 of the top designers from around Africa as they unveiled exquisite collections on the fashion world.

African Fashion International (AFI) pushed out the very best of African designs with an African edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week from Wednesday, 24 October till Saturday, 28 October, 2012 at the Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, South Africa.

For the four days of the fashion shows, the OnoBello.com team was on the lookout for fashion statements and trend hunting for the latest fashion trends. One of the reoccurring trends was “brights”, probably because of the season of the year, but people are seemingly embracing colors and stepping forward in bright bold fashion colors.

See photos, we are sure you’ll be inspired by some looks here!

Patterns

Patterns are tricky to put together and for that reason alone a lot of people tend to shy away from patterns. But it wouldn’t be a true fashion show without the bold fashion lovers who aren’t afraid to show their creative sides.

Brights

Colors are an essential part of any ensemble. Colors are fun, and for a while the fashion world was crazed about the color-blocking phase. Thankfully, that phase has cooled down to give a calmer love for colors without necessarily going over the top. People are no longer shy to step out in bright colors and bold fashion statements. From bright yellow pants to a completely yellow ensemble, the Mercedes Benz fashion Week Africa was filled with guests with a love for colors.

Black And Monochrome

The Monochrome trend has been around for a while now, and it almost even pushed the love for black out of the fashion world, but that can never totally happen and it seems black is back. And better, as people who went for the monochrome look, or even the Goth black ensemble, added a splash of color. And with either a red bowtie, or red shoes, or anything to divert from a totally black outfit, the colour makes the look better.

Shoes

It is always good to look out for shoes at shows because that’s where you’ll find some of the cutest shoes as well as some shoes that leave you drooling. Make sure to look at some of the shoes in other selected pictures, but here are a few shoes that are different enough to have caught our eye.

More Trends

The job of trend hunting cannot be easy, and in trying to keep an eye out for the very best, some other guests at the MBFWA could not escape our notice. They looked so good we just had to share.
