UCL Quarterfinals: Tottenham Dumps City Out, Liverpool Cruise Past Porto
In a very close encounter on Wednesday night, Tottenham edged Manchester City to proceed to the UEFA Champions League Semi-finals for the first time.
The first half was a thrilling encounter as both teams scored five goals between themselves in the opening 21 minutes.
Raheem sterling opened the score sheet in less than 4 minutes into the game, Tottenham’s Son Heung-min replied in the 6th minute before adding another screamer in the 9th minute.
Manchester equalised with a Bernardo Silva deflected shot in the 10th minute, before Sterling converted a cross by Kevin de Bruyne, ending the half at a 3-3 aggregate score.
Aguero came back in the second half with a well placed shot in the 59 minute, However, Fernando Llorente cancelled his goal with a header in the 73. .
The unlucky Manchester City would have proceeded by Sterling loss time goal was cancelled by VAR, stating it as an offside goal.
Elsewhere, Liverpool cruised past Porto with a 4-1 win, after wining 2-0 in the first leg. Liverpool had their goals from Mane, Salah, Firmino and Van Dijk, while Porto had a consolation goal from Eder Militao.
Tottenham will be facing Ajax in the Semi-finals while Liverpool will face Barcelona
