Lifetime’s latest take on dead celebrities comes in the form of Whitney Houston and, shockingly, the newly-released trailer for Whitney does not reek of the insensitivities, inaccuracies, and general bad acting as previously predicted by some.
Yaya Dacosta (America’s Next Top Model) plays the iconic singer in the Angela Bassett directed biopic that chronicles Houston’s music success and drug-fueled relationship with Bobby Brown played by Arlen Escarpeta. The movie also features some of Houston’s famous show-stopping performances sung by Deborah Cox for the movie, as well as her intense relationships with close friends, family members, and music manager Clive Davis.
Bassett, who is making her directorial debut, was a friend of Houston’s and we’re sure she’ll want to do her story justice.
