Amid the ongoing chaos around the nation, a mob has razed the Divisional Police Station and Local Government secretariat in Okitipupa area of Ondo state.
The hoodlums who were chased away from the street by the police before they carried out the attack on Thursday also broke into a National Correctional Service Centre setting prisoners free, according to authorities.
Online reports say no fewer than 58 inmates were released during the attack while a vehicle was burnt. There were also several items that were destroyed on the premises of the prison.
Not less than 50 motorcycles seized by the police and parked in the station were released by the mob who had earlier attacked Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s campaign office.
This comes less than a day after some angry youth attacked another police station in Akure and set the facility on fire. Another set of angry citizens had earlier destroyed the Special Anti-Robbery Squad facility along Oda Road in Akure, the state capital.
