After a grueling round of presentations before judges – Mo Abudu, Tunde Folawiyo, Issam Darwish, Omobola Johnson, Eme Essien, Genevieve Sangudi and a representative of lead sponsor, GTBank for the She Leads Africa 2015 Pitch Competition, Kasope Ladipo-Ajayi has emerged winner of the competition.
She Leads Africa is an initiative that invests in Africa’s aspiring female entrepreneurs. The flagship program is usually a pitch competition for female-led high growth startups, and then subsequent mentorship and consulting with finance and venture capital companies.
Kasope impressed the judges with her pitch for OmoAlata, Nigeria’s first NAFDAC approved 100% organic packaged blended peppermix, beating 6 other promising young female entrepreneurs.
Winners of the second and third place were Kambili Ngozi Ofili-Okonkwo of Kamokini, a Nigerian swimwear brand and Ngozi Opara of the Heat Free Hair Movement which produces natural curl hair extensions.
Kasope went home with a $10, 000 cash prize, mentorship opportunity, technology prizes from Etisalat and 3-months of support from Zippy Logistics. Kambili and Ngozi got $ 5, 000 and $ 1, 000 cash prizes respectively.
