Meet 24 Year Old Cameroonian Model, Amanda Efathel -Wins African Top Model 2013/14

The African Fashion International Festival is one of the biggest Pan-African fashion event in Africa that has been promoting creativity and youth in Fashion for a decade.

On November 25th, 2013 in Niamey (Niger), with prestigious guests in attendance such as Equatorial Guinea&#39s Culture Minister, First Ladies of Niger and Burkina Faso, Amanda Efathel took away the most coveted title of “African Top model of the year”.This is one of the many accomplishments Amanda can add to her resume; Business student, socialite, fashion blogger & professional model, she embodies the new generation of creative African women.

A Meteoric Rise

Born on February 15th, 1989 near Brussels in Belgium, Amanda Efathel is studying in a reputablehigh school in Douala (Cameroon) when in 2010, she is spotted by designer Dio Ali during a galadinner. If she never considered venturing into the fashion world until then, her looks and naturalgrace will quickly take her to the top.

Intensively trained by Lukra Senomo -a former model and renowned choreographer -the young woman takes the modeling world in Cameroon and Africa by storm. She collaborates with some ofthe most respected african fashion designers, from Ivory Coast&#39s Gilles Touré to Niger&#39s Alphadi, Paris-based Imane Ayissi or the illustrious senegalese stylist, OumouSy. Te beautiful Amanda will also pose for one of the continent&#39s most famous photographers, Alain Ngann. She is also picked to
model for Cameroon&#39s unique luxury concept store, CARM STORE.

Known for her professionalism and dedication, she is invited to the Presidential Palace by the First Lady of Cameroon, in November 2013.

The African Top Model Of The Year!

As she won the « Cameroon&#39s Best Model » title several years in a row, Amanda Efathel is encouraged by her friends and family to apply for the «2013 African Top Model of the year » competition, organized by the FIMA, African Fashion&#39s International Festival.This event, which has been taking place for more than 15 years now in Niger with the support of United Nations, is one of the most important fashion events in Africa, and reveals those who&#39ll shape tomorrow&#39s fashion industry in Africa.

Beauty And Brains!

Studying Business Law at the Catholic University of Yaoundé, Amanda Efathel is currently workingon her Master&#39s thesis as well as pursuing her modeling carreer. She&#39s also one of Cameroon&#39s mostinfuent style bloggers, and shares her love for fashion and trips on her blog- Efathel.blogspot.com.

Ambitious and determined, she wishes to work later in Public

Relations and Event Planning, to follow in the steps of Adama Paris (the well-known designer behind Dakar&#39s Fashion Weeks and Paris&#39s Black Fashion Weeks) and Omoyemi Akerele.

What&#39s Next?

Since her win at the International African Fashion Festival last November, Amanda Efathel did aneditorial for Parisian publication ROOTS Magazine, and received numerous requests from brands. In December 2013, she became the face of jewelry/accessories brand MAK! All the pictures from the2014 ad campaign will soon be available. She is now signed to Ghanaian modelingagency AMTS (Africa Models and Talent Scout).
