Luxury champagne brand, Moet & Chandon gathered distinguished personalities last Thursday 18th July, 2013 at the Gallery at Freedom Park, Lagos to toast the late literary maverick, humanitarian, national treasure and global voice – Chinua Achebe.

The evening started off with a networking session as highlife music by legendaries, Steven Osita Osadebe, Victor Uwaifo and the likes played in the background.
The evening proceeded with a reading session curated by award-winning journalist and writer, Tolu Ogunlesi. Renowned journalists and writers such as Jahman Anikulapo, Toyin Akinosho, and Deji Toye took turns to read excerpts from a few of Chinua Achebe’s books including Things Fall Apart, A Man of the People, Anthills of the Savannah, No Longer at Ease, Arrow of God, There Was a Country amongst others.
A special guest of honour at the event was one of Africa’s greatest writer and playwright, Wole Soyinka; other known faces in attendance include Kemi Adetiba, Steve Ayorinde, Wana Udobang, Ofili Speaks, Ebi Atawodi, Bisi Silva, Segun Adefila, Temi Dollface, Ayeni Adekunle, Chris Ihidero, and many more.
