In a quick chat with the magazine, Lil Kesh talks about how he has successfully created a niche for himself and how it all began.
“Being an artist to me means being a servant to humanity”.
Revolutionary, innovative, world-shattering – just a few of the words that best describe the music and method of Lil Kesh; a style that instantly created a niche for him, and has steadily evolved since. By a long shot, Lil Kesh has proven competent and is on the verge of a taking over the street music industry in the Nigerian scene, as well as internationally.
We can all agree that “Humble” is the new “Proud”; and so does Lil Kesh. In an industry where almost everyone seeks to be a leader, our “Shoki” crooner seeks to serve, in kindness. “Being an artist to me means being a servant to humanity” he uttered, “we were created to serve one way or the other and I choose to serve through music.”
With such a watchword, Lil Kesh is not far off from achieving his ideal goals for his music. With the aim of spreading happiness and hope through music, he has readily put smiles on the faces of his listeners and fans, and we all can agree that this is just the beginning. It’s no doubt he is well on his way to being remembered for the positivity he has spread through his music.
Ever wonder where all the generosity and selflessness stems from? Not a place we would commonly expect but no surprises here, Lil Kesh is more than a stroke of luck for his generation. “My surrounding played a major role in my sense of creativity which is why I often talk about my everyday struggle and hardship I faced before my life turned around.”
Growing up in such a background, the future might be a tad blurry but never for those who find their creative spark early, even without the ambition of becoming a professional performer. “Did I know I’ll become a professional singer? No,” he stated “but I started music at a very young age as a chorister in church, playing drums and talking drums.”
