The senator representing Kaduna Central District, Shehu Sani, on the 10th of September, revealed that some youths offered to purchase his Senate nomination and expression-of-interest forms but he rejected the offer because he didn’t want to follow the deceptive political tradition. He disclosed this through a post on social media.
Sani had purchased the election forms towards realising his ambition to re-contest for a seat in the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker also alleged in another tweet that a friend gave him “pepper and a handkerchief” to rub on his face to “shed tears”, when he was submitting his forms but added that he declined.
His tweet read
“A group of youth struggling for daily bread approached me that I should permit them to announce that they bought a nomination form for me, as part of the political tradition, I politely declined. I don’t want to be in the league of that deceptive political tradition. They agreed”.
“A politician and a friend gave me a pepper and a Handkerchief to rub on my face so as to shed tears ‘on the plight of the masses’ when I’m collecting and submitting my nomination form. I politely turned him down. I told him that I’m an activist and not an actor.”
