Ahdookeh is a Couture fashion label based in Lagos Nigeria under the creative direction of Keji Fatai Agoro (KFA). The label was launched in 2005 and produces two main collections every year.
Ahdookeh came as a result of a soul-searching experience for KFA, according to her, inspiration for the label and its name came as a result of a phrase in a poem – “the journey of discovery started, love and support came from unexpected places kindness and friendship from unexpected sources, and I discovered myself. I found my purpose, my voice, my meaning the reason for my being”. KFA has definitely found her purpose and passion in fashion.
KFA studied at Cobham Hall in the United Kingdom and bags a B.Sc in Zoology from the University of Lagos, Akoka. After her first degree she took short courses in Fashion and Design at the prestigious London School of Fashion. Though she has always been intrigued with fashion for as long as she could remember, her educational background also greatly added to her profound passion and has shaped her designs. She is passionate about embellishments, which is the signature of her label. Her pieces are created for women that are confident and adventurous. Though Ahdookeh is known for its signature couture pieces, there is also a ready-to-wear line of unique standout pieces of jackets, skirts, dresses and other accessories.
The Rebirth Collection
For ‘The Rebirth’ Fall 2011 collection, Yvonne ‘Vixen’ Ekwere host of Silverbird’s TV entertainment magazine E-weekly show, Ify Ejikeme a housemate from Big Brother Nigeria Season 1 and Helen Adegite a budding Nigeria fashion stylist modelled the 14 gorgeous pieces.
KFA has created ‘The Rebirth’ collection as part of thelabel’s couture line. This collection features her signature use of embellishments and the pieces are made for any confident and fashion forward woman in today’s changing world where image is important. The collection consisting of panelled jackets, 60’s swing dresses and structured evening dresses made from brights and prints in chiffon, silk and lace with every piece intricately embellished with rare beads and precious stones. KFA says she started this collection by working with her signature use of embellishments then worked backwards to the finished pieces beautifully displayed here.
Ahdookeh’snext project will be a major fashion show to launch ‘The Rebirth’ collection and bring the label to limelight as well as claim its much deserved position among its counterparts of top designers in the Nigerian fashion industry.
