@Zendaya on #Euphoria season 2: “I harass [creator Sam Levinson] daily,” she says, half-joking, eagerly awaiting a potential shoot date in January. She doesn’t know what’s going to happen next, but she would love for Rue and Jules to be healthy and find each other again. “Euphoria was eight months of my life, and now that it’s done I’m like, ‘Fuck.’ You put your shit out there, and it’s a really terrifying thing to do. It’s out for the world to see."⁣ Link in bio for the full cover story. #ELLEWIH ⁣ ELLE November 2019:⁣ Editor-in-Chief: @ninagarcia⁣ Cover star: @zendaya⁣ Written by: @dbacherwrites⁣ Photographer: @zoeygrossman⁣ Stylist: @natasharoyt⁣ Hair: @larryjarahsims⁣ Makeup: @officialsheiks⁣ Nails: @betina_goldstein⁣ Produced by: @michellehynek, @crawfordandcoproductions

In the aftermath of #MeToo, this year’s Women in Hollywood honorees are defined by the question: Where do we go from here? With standout performances in two of fall’s most anticipated films, plus a summer blockbuster on the horizon, #ScarlettJohansson is riding the wave. In her first leading role, @jodiesmith isn’t taking things for granted. “You have to work twice as hard to have half as much,” she says. “[There’s] constantly a different standard we as black people hold ourselves to, and hold each other to, in a way that can be oppressive.” And @natalieportman has graduated from doe-eyed ingenue to a full fledged woman of complexity. #QueenandSlim is many things. It’s Bonnie and Clyde for the Black Lives Matter era; it’s a look at the power of black resilience and the spectacle of black death; it’s a timeless reimagining of the blaxploitation genre. But in the end, it’s the best meditation on black romance in an impossibly long time. “Sex can be portrayed as something that’s very animal,” @jodiesmith told ELLE. “And black people, especially black men and women of our complexion, are often hypersexualized. [There’s] a dichotomy of blackness where there can be such violence and terror, and yet in the middle of that, black people can find intimacy and beauty in the comfort of each other.” “Like @lenawaithe always talked about,” @msmelina adds. “These two people fall in love with the world burning down around them.”⁣ ⁣ ELLE November 2019:⁣ Editor-in-Chief: @ninagarcia⁣ Cover stars: @lenawaithe, @jodiesmith, @msmelina⁣ Written by: Anita Little⁣ Photographer: @zoeygrossman⁣ Stylist: @shionat⁣ Hair: @nakiarachon, @hairartbydominique, @naivashaintl⁣ Makeup: @thecelinarodriguez, @rebekahaladdin, @carolagmakeup⁣ Nails: @thuybnguyen⁣ Produced by: @michellehynek, @crawfordandcoproductions

@NicoleKidman knows you want more #BigLittleLies. “Everyone says, ‘Are you going to do a season three?’ ” she says. “We’re like, ‘Just give us a sec.’ We’d love to [do another season] because we love being together, and it’s lovely spending time with your friends, and with such good material,” she says. “It’s part of the reason I wanted to do #Bombshell, to support @charlizeafrica." After #TheOffice was nominated for an Emmy, @mindykaling was told by the Television Academy that there were too many producers and she was going to be cut from the list, making her ineligible for the award. “They made me, not any of the other producers, fill out a whole form and write an essay about all my contributions as a writer and a producer," she told ELLE. "I had to get letters from all the other male, white producers saying that I had contributed, when my actual record stood for itself.” There’s a quote from #ToniMorrison that resonates with Kaling: “'In this country, American means white. Everybody else has to hyphenate.' It really doesn’t matter how much money I have,” she says. “I’m treated badly with enough regularity that it keeps me humble.” Link in bio for the full cover story. #ELLEWIH⁣ ⁣ ELLE November 2019:⁣ Editor-in-Chief: @ninagarcia⁣ Cover star: @mindykaling⁣ Written by: @rebeccarnelson Photographer: @zoeygrossman⁣ Stylist: @shionat,⁣ Hair: @marcmena⁣ Makeup: @janicekinjo⁣ Nails: @thuybnguyen⁣ Produced by: @michellehynek, @crawfordandcoproductions

Early in her career, @dollyparton’s friend and mentor Chet Atkins told her, “Dolly, you need to tone it down. You’re wearing too much makeup. You need to have a little more taste. People are never going to take you serious[ly] as a songwriter and singer.” “I said, ‘You know what? I can’t separate the two. This is who I am,’ she told ELLE. “I not only didn’t tone it down, I figured if my work was truly good enough, people would eventually recognize that. That’s how I’ve always looked at it: that I look totally artificial, but I am totally real, as a writer, as a professional, as a human being. A rhinestone shines just as good as a diamond.” Link in bio for the full cover story. #ELLEWIH
