Show Report: 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa – U.Mi-1

U.Mi-1 is a brand for people who are passionate about clothes, who judge luxury from the finishing inside to the detailing on the outside. For Creative Director, Gozi, U.Mi-1 represents unity and dialogue through fashion. These two themes are evident from the juxtaposition of different fabrics, detailing and style lines. The aesthetic she creates marries sophisticated tailoring/detailing with casual styles and fabrics.

 

The brand showcased its new season collection at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week African organised by Africa Fashion International (AFI) is pushing out the very best of African designs with an African edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which took place from the 24thto 28 October 2012, at the prestigious Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, South Africa.

 

AFI, now in it’s fifth year of organizing Fashion Week in Africa plays a vital part bringing designers from the continent to the world stage.

 

This year, AFI for the first time got the strong backing of Mercedes-Benz, the luxury car company that has an outstanding reputation for sponsoring major Fashion Weeks around the world.

 

Other Nigerian designers that showcased at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa were DeolaSagoe, Ituen Basi and Maki Oh.
