ALÁRA was conceived by Reni Folawiyo, a lawyer turned furniture designer. After yearsof working with Nigerian artisans in her home city of Lagos, Reni’s passion for design and her love of fashion led to the idea of creating a beautifully crafted space for curating and celebrating Africa’s vast wealth and heritage of craftsmanship and design. ALÁRA was born.
Set in trendy Victoria Island, Lagos, the ALÁRA concept store is designed by world-acclaimed architect, David Adjaye, who has created a first-of-its kind exhibition-style retail masterpiece in the heart of Nigeria’s commercial capital. The store features a multi-level design gallery, an exhibition space, a rooftop cafe, and an ethnic restaurant.
With 3200 square feet of retail space, ALÁRA is curator of objects of exceptional African creative origin, accented by the finest international designs. ALÁRA is reference point for modern luxury in Africa, with plans to carry across the globe.
ALÁRA features brands such as Stella McCartney, Dries Van Noten, Marni and Valentino, among other international brands, and supports internationally acclaimed local designers like Maki Oh and Duro Olowu.
