The three-day fashion extravaganza held at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, from September 19 to 21, with vibrant runway shows and exotic collections witnessed an avalanche of fashion as the 2014 Native & Vogue Port Harcourt Fashion Week took place.
Designers from South Africa, UK, and Nigeria established and upcoming, teamed forces to unleash creative inspiring fashion pieces on the people; collections they viewed with great relish.
The event, climaxed with the ‘Allure style Awards’ an event that entered its fourth season this year. Instituted to recognize and applaud men and women who have excelled in the fashion and beauty industry in Nigeria, this year’s event, introduced two new segments in the awards categories. They are ‘Fashion Promoter of the year’ and ‘Allure personality of the year’.
The formal presentation of plaques was heralded with the amazing collection of UK based Kosibah and Dak Val a two time participant at the show whose collections set the tone for the awards.
In a welcome address, the editor of Allure magazine, Mrs. Remi Diagbare said, “The Allure Awards is created to recognize and reward excellence in creativity and appreciate those who have been consistent in their portrayal of style”.
Announcing names of nominees sent adrenalin pumping amongst stakeholders who felt they deserved to win.
Leading the pack of winners was former Miss Nigeria and Style consultant, Mrs Helen Ajayi who emerged Allure Style icon 2014 beating contenders, Nkiru Anumudu and proprietor of EbonyLife TV, Mo Abudu. The award was presented to her by the deputy governor of Rivers state, Engr. Tele Ikuru.
Other winners in the different categories of the Allure Style Awards include, Lexy Mojo Eyes, as Makeup Artist of the year, Zhalima Grazioni as Young Designer of the year while Amaka Chirah was honored with Model of the year award. In other categories were, Nicole by Haguanna for Accessory Brand of the year, Ibitein Thompson for Young Designer of the year, Recare emerged Beauty Brand of the year while Burna Boy emerged Artist of the year.
Also on the winner’s line up was Mr. Tonye Cole as Personality of the Year. Port Harcourt, was powered by the River State government to encourage young men and women in creative industry.
