Africa is filled with talents and many are yet to be discovered, so in our search for talents in fashion we came across BebeGrafiti. Though not a new to fashion, the label has been on the scene since 2009 and was founded by Head Designer Es Anozia a native of Nigeria from the Niger Delta region. Her passion to put her native culture on the world fashion map lead to the creation of pieces for any modern day woman.
Tribal Glow is not her first collection, she had previously produced two other collection; Tribal Oppulence and Tribal Rebellion respectively.
The Tribal Glow collection pictured here consists of day, casual, formal and glamorous evening pieces. It is a mixture of Prints, Lace, Silk, Organza, Jacquered and Tweed. BebeGrafiti is usually inspired by rhythm, colour, geometry, people, patterns, layers, volume, crafts and eras all evident in Tribal Glow.
According to the Head Designer, “women should be fearless with their fashion choices instead of merely conforming to standard African attires. Today’s youth is looking for something more dynamic yet retro; Fashion is the safest form of rebellion”.
The label is currently stocked on UK Fashion giant retail website Asos.com as well as Smashingdarlings.com and Etsy.com. In Nigeria, you can find the label at Grey Velvet fashion retail boutique at the Ikeja mall, Alausa, Lagos.
About The Designer
Es Anozia started her adventure as the Head Designer at the label many years after her degree in Mathematics and Computing and post-graduate studies in Education in the U.K.
On her return to Nigeria, her creative side was unleashed and was expressed through experimenting and combining the variety of materials and textures that is evident in the rich Niger-Delta fabrics. This was a big revelation as to the extent she could go.
Her designs focus on encouraging people to embrace African culture through fashion and view it as hip, trendy and fashionable for the 21st century.
