Belgian Football Supporter At The World Cup Becomes L’Oreal’s Latest Face

Heard of Axelle Despiegelaere? Chances are you will soon, as the 17-year-old Belgian football fan is fast gaining Facebook likes, press coverage and possible a beauty contract.


Having gone from just a beautiful face in the Brazilian World Cup crowd to a worldwide phenomenon, the Belgian beauty has just won herself an affiliation L’Oreal Professionnel Belgium, just two weeks after her photo went viral on Twitter.

Despite her national team losing out to Argentina in the quarter finals, Despiegelaere – dressed top-to-toe in Belgian paraphernalia and face-paint – shot to victory herself when photos of her in the stands found itself plastered over the world’s national newspapers.

Since returning home, the fan-turned-football-pin-up-turned-model, set up a Facebook page which has already amassed over 23,000 fans (at the time of writing this story).

This short film shows Despiegelaere heading to Thierry Huys’s salon, the Belgian L’Oreal Professionnel ambassador, to have her long locks washed, coiffed and dried.
