Forbes magazine yesterday, Monday March 3rd released its annual listing of the World’s Billionaires. Forbes global wealth team found 1,645 billionaires with an aggregate net worth of $6.4 trillion, up from $5.4 trillion from last year ago. The team unearthed a record 268 new ten-figure fortunes, including 42 new women billionaires, another record. In total, there are 172 women on the list, more than ever before and up from 138 last year.
Aliko Dangote, the C.E.O of Dangote group was listed by Forbes magazine as the 23rd richest man in the world, making a record as the first black man to break into the top 25. Worth $25 billion, Aliko Dangote moved up 20 spots. Aliko Dangote still tops the list of the richest men in Africa.
The next Nigerian on the list is chief Mike Adenuga, C.E.O Globacom Nigeria who is 325th richest person with $4.6bn. Also on the list is Nigeria’s ashion and oil mogul, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija in 687th position with a personal wealth of $1.2bn.
After four years, former Microsoft chairman Bill Gates tops the list again as the world’s richest man in the world with a worth of $76 billion.
