Drum-roll, please…

The 2020 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards took place over the past weekend in Ekiti State and there were many moments of surprise and delight. From Charles Okpaleke’s Living in Bondage: Breaking Free to Kayode Kasum’s ‘This Lady Called Life‘, the awards hosted by actress Tana Adelana and comedian Mr Macaroni were seemingly all about the most-talked about projects of the year.

As expected, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free took home the coveted Movie of the Year Award. In addition to that, the box office hit also earned Ramsey Nouah a Director of the Year Award; as well as accolades for the best use of special effects and movie with the best use of makeup.

Living in Bondage: Breaking Free also shared the award for best editing with This Lady Called Life; which in turn took the awards for the Best Screenplay, Best use of Food in a movie, and Movie with the Best Production Design.

The Best of Nollywood (BON) awards are held annually to honour outstanding achievements in the Nigerian movie industry. The award is known for its unique award categories like, Best Use of Nigerian Food, which was won by This Lady Called Life.

Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada emerged Best Actress in a Leading Role while Laura Fidel and Kunle Remi snagged the Best Kiss category for their steaming performance in a short film titled Pole Girl.

– Best Actress in a Leading Role (Yoruba) – Adebimpe Oyebade – Agbelebu Jade.

-Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo) – Francis Duru – Mboputa.

-Best Actress in a Leading Role (Igbo) – Happy Julian Uchendu – Mboputa.

-Best Child Actor – Molawa Onajobi – This Lady Called Life.

-Best Child Actress – Amarachi Onwe – Secrets.

-Movie with the Best Social Message – The Session.

-Movie with the Best Comedy – Dear Affy.

-Best Short Film – Pole Girl.

-Best Documentary – Tame The Serial Killer.

-Movie with the Best Special Effects – Living in Bondage (Breaking Free).
