The late chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, has finally been laid to rest in Abuja after complications from COVID-19 lead to his demise.
According to Channels TV, his remains were brought in an ambulance to the Defence House in Abuja, where family members, as well as his colleagues, gathered to pay their last respect.
The burial rites for the late chief of staff were conducted at Gudu cemetery in Abuja. Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, was among those at the funeral to pay their last respect to the deceased.
The president’s chief of staff was on self-isolation after testing positive for the disease late March. In a tweet earlier today, Bashir Ahmad, presidential aide, had said Kyari would be buried in the day according to Islamic rights.
The news of his death was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in the early hours of today.
